About this tool
Convert a compatible RAR source to ZIP, 7Z, TAR or TAR.GZ. The word “RAR” names the input on this page: the current browser implementation does not offer RAR creation.
RAR to ZIP is the direction to use when the receiver needs a ZIP package. RAR to 7Z creates a real 7Z container. TAR groups extracted files without compression, while TAR.GZ adds GZIP compression around that TAR package.
A new container does not guarantee smaller bytes or better file quality. The documents, images and other files inside are repacked; they are not transcoded into other formats.
The list shown after processing is a summary, not a selective archive editor. It shows up to eight entries and a count for the rest.
The non-ZIP engine can attempt supported password-protected archives when given the correct password. It does not recover passwords. The interface accepts one file rather than an entire multipart RAR set, so split archives or missing volumes may require a desktop archive manager.
Repacking is not archive repair. It cannot recreate missing bytes or use a new extension to make a damaged source valid.
RAR recovery records, comments, empty folders, permissions and other container-specific properties are not guaranteed to survive. Compare paths, counts and regular file contents before relying on the new package.
Compatible extraction and encoding run on your device, but module loading requires network access. Expanded data can be much larger than the compressed RAR. For inspection without choosing a destination format, see Archive Extractor.

Frequently asked questions
No. RAR is the input here. Supported outputs are ZIP, 7Z, TAR and TAR.GZ; the current implementation does not create RAR.
A supported RAR is extracted and its regular file contents are repacked in the chosen output container. Internal media and document formats are not converted.
The extraction engine can attempt supported encrypted RAR inputs with the correct password. It cannot find a forgotten password or guarantee every encryption variant.
No. This interface accepts one archive file at a time and does not provide a multi-volume input flow. Use a compatible archive application for split sets.
Do not assume so. RAR-specific recovery information, comments, permissions and other attributes are not guaranteed to transfer to another container.
One archive with a 250 MB per-file limit. Extraction and destination encoding can exceed the memory suggested by the compressed source size.
