About this tool
Use this entry when you already have a .7z package and need a different container. It is a source-format choice for 7Z to ZIP, TAR or TAR.GZ, not a tool for creating a new 7Z from loose files.
7Z to ZIP can prepare a package for an application that expects ZIP. 7Z to TAR creates a TAR container without compression. 7Z to TAR.GZ packages the files in TAR and compresses that package with GZIP.
None of these directions promises a smaller file. A compact 7Z can become larger when repacked with another format. Confirm the destination's requirements first.
The engine must extract the source before it can build the destination. A small compressed file can expand to a large amount of data; the interface limit is not a guarantee that every device has enough memory.
The non-ZIP engine can attempt supported encrypted inputs with a supplied password. Compatibility depends on the archive's features. This interface accepts one file, not a set of split volumes, and cannot repair missing parts or discover a forgotten password.
The operation repacks file data without recoding images, audio or documents. It does not guarantee retention of all archive metadata, empty directories, permissions or links. Inspect the new paths and open representative files before discarding the source.
For the reverse direction, see ZIP to 7Z. For inspection without choosing a new container, use Archive Extractor, whose current download bundles the extracted files into ZIP. Supported processing runs on the device; application resources still load over the network.

Frequently asked questions
It starts with a 7Z archive and offers ZIP, TAR or TAR.GZ output. To create 7Z from a ZIP source, use ZIP to 7Z.
This source-format entry excludes 7Z as its destination. It is not an advanced 7Z recompression or compression-level editor.
The non-ZIP extraction engine can attempt supported encrypted archives when you supply the correct password. Unsupported encryption, missing volumes or a wrong password can still fail. It cannot recover passwords.
No. Repacking from 7Z to ZIP can increase size. Choose the output for the receiving application and verify the downloaded bytes.
No. Media and documents inside are repacked as file data, not converted to new image, audio or document formats.
One at a time, with a 250 MB per-file limit. The expanded data may need substantially more browser memory.
