About this tool

About ZIP Extractor

Use these ZIP-focused instructions to inspect a compatible ZIP and save its extracted file entries together. The page shares the general extraction component; it is not a separate selective-file archive manager.

Understand the download before starting

The current result is a new ZIP containing all extracted file entries. The on-page summary displays up to eight filenames and sizes, plus a count for additional files. There are no checkboxes for choosing a subset and no individual-file download buttons.

For example, if a ZIP contains twelve documents, the page can show the first eight names and a remaining count. The download includes the extracted collection, not only the eight entries displayed. Open the downloaded package in your archive application to select one document.

Steps for a normal ZIP

  1. Retain the original ZIP and choose one file within the 250 MB per-file limit.
  2. Start extraction.
  3. Review names, paths, sizes and the total entry count.
  4. Download the repackaged ZIP.
  5. Open it in a trusted application and check the required documents.

A compressed source can expand to far more data in memory. The displayed input limit is not a guarantee that a phone or older browser can process every ZIP below it.

Encrypted and damaged ZIP files

The current .zip extraction path does not support encrypted ZIP input. The visible optional password field does not add that support. A wrong extension, corrupted entries or unsupported compression methods can also fail.

Do not rename a protected or damaged archive to another extension as a repair step. Keep it intact and use an authorized, compatible utility when needed.

Check files and metadata

Regular file bytes are repackaged rather than transcoded. Empty folders, comments, permissions and other ZIP attributes are not guaranteed to survive. This tool is not a malware scanner; do not execute unknown files simply because their archive opens.

Use ZIP Converter when you need a 7Z or TAR-family output. Use Create ZIP File to package loose files. For non-ZIP sources, see Archive Extractor. Compatible processing stays on the device, while loading page and engine resources requires a connection.

Frequently asked questions

ZIP Extractor FAQ

Why does ZIP Extractor download another ZIP?

The tool reads the source entries, shows a summary, then repackages all extracted files into a new ZIP for download. It does not currently provide individual-file download buttons.

Can I choose only one file from the archive?

Not in this interface. Download the resulting package and choose files in your archive application. The list is for review, not selection.

Will a password-protected ZIP work?

The current .zip reader does not support encrypted ZIP extraction, even though an optional password field is visible. Use an authorized compatible utility for that input.

Does the list show every folder and file?

It shows up to eight file entries with sizes and a count for the remainder. Paths can be displayed in names, but there is no complete interactive folder tree.

Are the source files converted?

No. Regular file data is repackaged, not converted to other document, image or audio formats. Some archive attributes or empty directories may not be retained.

How large can the ZIP be?

One archive at a time with a 250 MB per-file limit. The decompressed data and the newly generated ZIP may require substantially more memory.
